The white season at Takino Suzuran Hillside National Government Park in Sapporo is coming to a close. Takino Snow World is scheduled to finish its FY2025 season on Tuesday, March 31. Warmer-than-usual temperatures this year have accelerated snowmelt, but conditions remain suitable for snow play through to the final day. Spring Highlights
Shirane Aoi and Spring Wildflower Festival
In the Takino Forest Zone and Natural Botanical Garden, a colony of Shirane Aoi — often called the queen of forest wildflowers — reaches peak bloom during the festival period. The "Shirane Aoi Path," roughly a 10-minute walk from the Forest Information Center, sees over 500 flowers each year, with around 1,500 flowers visible throughout the entire area. The surrounding forest floor is dotted with smaller wildflowers, making for a pleasant woodland stroll.
