"Shonan no Hoseki 2026-2027," organized by the Shonan Fujisawa Vitalization Consortium, will be held for 90 days from Tuesday, December 1, 2026 to Sunday, February 28, 2027. This is the 27th edition, and Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd.) is taking part again this year. Centered on the Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden, the area from Enoshima Island to the Katase Beach area will be wrapped in colorful light, creating a fantastical scene.
Shonan no Hoseki was recognized as one of Japan's Three Great Illuminations in 2025 and is highly regarded as one of the country's leading illumination events. From Christmas through the New Year holidays to Valentine's Day, the beautiful Shonan sunsets and night views add color to winter memories.
Highlights of Shonan no Hoseki 2026-2027
1. The "Hikari no Daikukan" (Great Space of Light) Pouring Down and the "Grand Illumi" Sparkling Across the Grounds
Inside the Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden, the "Hikari no Daikukan" (Great Space of Light) pours down from the Enoshima Sea Candle, the symbol of Shonan, and the "Grand Illumi" fills the area around the tower with fantastical light. New objects by the installation art collective MIRRORBOWLER will also appear, creating what is billed as the most beautiful illuminated scenery of the event to date.
2. Limited-Time Lighting in Special Colors
At the "Shonan no Hoseki Entrance" at the entrance to the Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden, a voluminous jewel illumination reminiscent of a starry sky spreads out. At the center of the light display, which has gained depth and brilliance, a chandelier, the centerpiece symbol, rises into view. During periods such as Christmas and Valentine's Day, limited-time lighting in special colors, named "Seasonal Jewel Lights," can also be enjoyed.

3. The Shonan Sunset Seen in Clear Winter Air, Paired with the Illumination
The spectacle begins even before the illumination is switched on. As the sun starts to set, the sky takes on a beautiful gradient shifting from deep navy to orange. The "Shonan Sunset" viewed from the Enoshima Sea Candle is a striking sight. When the lights of "Shonan no Hoseki" come on, the whole area takes on a scene found only here.
This fantastical blend of sunset and night view can be seen only at this time of year.
