THE NEST ISHIGAKI, a new resort hotel in the Miyara area of Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, opens on November 1, 2026. Operated by Nest Hotel Japan Co., Ltd., it is the 20th property of the "Nest hotel" brand, which offers comfortable spaces under the concept of "a just-right hotel" (ちょうどいい、ホテル), and the second property under THE NEST, the brand's top-tier line.
The property was previously a hotel that operated until February 2026. After that hotel closed, the existing facilities were reused while the guest room layouts were changed, the lobby and restaurant areas were renovated, and a pool, a farm and a barrel sauna were added on the grounds. It is being rebranded as a new resort-stay accommodation aimed at capturing leisure demand from family and group travelers.
Ishigaki, a Resort Island in Okinawa
Ishigaki Island is the second-largest island in the Yaeyama Islands, a group of 12 remote islands about 400 km south of Okinawa's main island. In addition to flights from across Japan, international scheduled flights to and from Taiwan, Hong Kong and other destinations began operating in 2025, making it an area where inbound demand is growing.
With its white sand beaches, highly transparent sea and starry skies, Ishigaki is also known as an island of stars, and it ranks among Japan's leading resort areas.
About THE NEST ISHIGAKI
Located in the Miyara area of Ishigaki Island, THE NEST ISHIGAKI is a full-fledged resort hotel with 54 rooms that opens after a complete renovation. Set away from the city and surrounded by nature, it offers a restful space where guests can spend unhurried time while taking in the island's rich natural surroundings.
Every guest room is 58 m² or larger. From the outdoor balcony and the in-room nook sofa, guests can look out over the blue Okinawan sea and the surrounding nature, making it a private space for a relaxing stay.
Inside the rooms, natural materials and calm tones that harmonize with the island's scenery create a simple yet refined atmosphere. Guests can relax away from everyday life, with natural light streaming through large windows and the island breeze passing through.
Concept Rooms
As part of the full renovation, two playful, colorful concept rooms based on yellow have been newly added. The Game Room (ゲームルーム) lets guests play to their hearts' content indoors, adding to the fun of time with family and friends. The Baby-Friendly Room (ベイビーフレンドリールーム) combines safety and fun with soft nook sofas and rounded designs.
Lobby and Pool
The hotel lobby is a signature space of THE NEST ISHIGAKI that welcomes guests into the calm air of Ishigaki Island. A design with natural textures blends with an open, airy setting, building anticipation for a resort stay from the moment guests arrive.
At the pool area, guests can spend their time as they like while feeling Ishigaki's blue sky and rich nature. The light on the water, the pleasant breeze and the open views make it a place to read quietly, spend time with family and loved ones, or add to the memories of an island trip.
Restaurant and Bar
The restaurant serves dishes that draw on the rich ingredients of Ishigaki Island and the rest of Okinawa. Through menus that reflect the island's climate and culture, it aims to offer a dining experience that lets guests savor the stay itself. Meals in a space surrounded by beautiful nature add to the enjoyment of the trip. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available, and the attached bar can also be used, rounding out a day on Ishigaki Island.
Experiences Rooted in Ryukyu Nature and Culture
The hotel plans to offer local-produce experiences that let guests encounter the nature and culture of Ryukyu. These range from sugarcane and island banana (島バナナ) harvesting on the hotel's farm, to harvesting and distilling the Okinawan herb getto (月桃), the barrel sauna, and traditional crafts such as shisa (シーサー) painting. The hotel invites guests to enjoy a trip with loved ones surrounded by Ryukyu nature, on "island time to cultivate life" (人生を耕す島時間).
