TOKYO MANGA BASE is opening a pop-up shop called the "TOKYO MANGA BASE Shogakukan Original Art Festival" at Ginza Tsutaya Books GINZA ATRIUM starting September 20 (Sunday), 2026.
Drawing on the concept of the GINZA ATRIUM venue, the lineup has been curated around "original art" pieces that turn manga cover illustrations and color art into displayable works. Items on offer include reproduction prints of works such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Banana Fish — normally sold only through Shogakukan's official e-commerce site "LIFETUNES MALL" — as well as "metal canvas art," a 2.5D art format that uses special techniques to bring out a sense of depth. In total, more than 100 original-art items will be sold for a limited time, including T-shirts and acrylic blocks featuring popular Shogakukan titles.
Among the standout items is a reproduction print pairing Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End with Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring," created to coincide with the "Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring" exhibition currently running at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka. This piece will also be specially displayed and offered for order at the event.
As a new initiative, some of the items on display will also be sold at the same time through the cross-border e-commerce service "TOKYO MANGA BASE," which lets people living overseas order directly from Japanese online stores and have items shipped to their homes. It is currently available in 10 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. This marks the first time reproduction prints have been sold overseas through the cross-border service, letting people abroad experience the energy of Ginza in real time through the products themselves.
Advance orders for the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End x Vermeer reproduction print will also be accepted.
