Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition HIROSHIMA Announces Collaborations with AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM and RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima

The Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition HIROSHIMA (動き出す浮世絵展 HIROSHIMA), organized by Hiroshima TV, Seaz Live, Hitohata, and TV Aichi, is an immersive digital art museum where visitors can step into the world of ukiyo-e. The exhibition runs from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, September 6, 2026 at NTT Credo Hall (基町クレド・パセーラ 11F, 6-78 Motomachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima).

Alongside the exhibition itself, collaboration programs have been announced with two nearby venues — AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM (広島もとまち水族館) and RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima (リーガロイヤルホテル広島) — allowing visitors to enjoy workshops, dining, and accommodation themed around ukiyo-e.

Collaboration with AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM

AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM is located in the same building as NTT Credo Hall, the exhibition venue. A special collaboration program will be held at the aquarium during the exhibition period. Inside the aquarium, an original limited-edition immersive video installation will be presented, along with a display of actual ukiyo-e prints from the Edo period: Hiroshige Utagawa's "Sakana-zukushi: Kanagashira / Konohagare ni Sasa" and Kuniyoshi Utagawa's "Kingyo-zukushi" (reproduction edition). Explanatory panels about "sea creatures" depicted in ukiyo-e will also be set up throughout the venue. AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM, themed around "the stage of life," invites visitors to enjoy this ukiyo-e collaboration in a space filled with diverse living creatures.

WELCOME: The World of "Ai" Blue, Expanding Infinitely

Ukiyo-e featuring beautiful shades of "ai" (indigo blue) — including Katsushika Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" — are reflected endlessly across ceilings, floors, and walls through mirrors, creating a space of infinite continuation. Visitors can fully immerse themselves in an overwhelming sense of scale, as if the waves are surging in three dimensions.

CORAL: A Ukiyo-e Space Where Edo Atmosphere and Living Creatures Come Alive

Ukiyo-e depicting lively Edo streams and townscapes, beauties by the seaside, and fish come alive across walls and floors. The space expresses a diverse "stage of life" where creatures, nature, and culture intertwine. Visitors are invited to step into a "sea and culture fusion space" where the world of ukiyo-e unfolds all around them.

Cocktail 1: "麗紅華" (Reikōka) — Red

Inspired by the "bijin-ga" (beauties) style popular in the mid-Edo period, this deep crimson cocktail is made with cranberry and plum wine, served in a delicate champagne glass that evokes the elegance of Japanese aesthetics. Cherry and sansho leaves are bundled with a bamboo pin to suggest a kanzashi hairpin, finished with gold leaf for added grace. A sweet-and-sour cocktail with a distinctive Japanese touch.

Cocktail 2: "藍碧" (Ranpeki) — Blue

Inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave off Kanagawa," this cocktail features a snow-sugar rim around the glass to evoke the waves, with the deep Japan Blue indigo color as its visual theme. Based on Hiroshima sake, combined with lychee liqueur, grapefruit, and pineapple, this is a gently sweet and refreshing cocktail.
