Background of the Event
Fireworks are a festive tradition found around the world, a form of entertainment that makes people smile and lets them share a moving moment. Japanese fireworks are regarded as being among the world's finest in technique, beauty, and artistry, and are known for finely crafted productions made by skilled artisans. Even so, much of their appeal is still not fully known outside Japan.
The ZEKKEI Fireworks sees fireworks artisans not only as craftspeople but also as individual artists. It treats fireworks not as simple entertainment but as a stage for experiencing Japanese aesthetics. Visitors can take in light, sound, and even the vibration of the air with all five senses, enjoying fireworks as "art to be experienced." The event also proposes a "new form of fireworks festival." It has introduced a paid-seating-only style, and it chose spring so that both the melting snow and cherry blossoms can be paired with the fireworks. With each edition, it keeps its traditions while imagining the fireworks style of the future.
For 2027, the event aims to create a new kind of value, shifting from "watching fireworks in Japan" to "visiting Japan to watch these fireworks." It hopes to become a new reason for people in Japan and abroad to visit Mt. Fuji in spring.

Highlights
1. Japan's Top Fireworks Artisans Gather at World Heritage Mt. Fuji
The ZEKKEI Fireworks is described as the only fireworks festival held on the grounds of Mt. Fuji, a World Heritage site.
The "BIG5" artisans, 磯谷煙火店, 紅屋青木煙火店, 齊木煙火本店, 北日本花火興業, and 菊屋小幡花火店, have won numerous awards in Japan and abroad, including the Prime Minister's Award. The event offers a rare chance to see not only each company's own fireworks but also a joint performance by all five.

2. A Spectacular View From Anywhere, Without Crowds, With Only 3,000 Seats on Grounds for Over 10,000 People
All seats are paid, and parking is available. With only 3,000 seats on grounds that can hold more than 10,000 people, visitors can watch the fireworks with peace of mind, without traffic jams, crowds, or the need to save a spot.
Recently, attitudes among fireworks audiences have been changing. Rather than simply going to a venue and watching, more people want to turn the fireworks into a stress-free, special experience. In this space, where a distinct view can be enjoyed from any area or seat, visitors can feel the power of the fireworks with all five senses. The experience combines visual beauty with the sound and vibration of the fireworks.
The event promises an exceptional night devoted entirely to fireworks, with views that can only be seen here.

The Idea Behind The ZEKKEI Fireworks 'Mt.Fuji'
The series carries the concept of "the best fireworks at Japan's most iconic scenic spots." It is a spring fireworks entertainment event that aims to deliver top-class scenery. In October 2020, it started as the first fireworks festival in Japan, and the only one in the world, held on the grounds of Mt. Fuji, a World Heritage site. The event brought together the BIG5, five of the artisans considered among the best in Japan's world-class fireworks technology. In a spacious venue that can hold more than 10,000 people but offers only 3,000 limited seats, it created a "total-sensory fireworks festival" (完全感覚花火大会) to be felt with all five senses. The organizers plan to keep sharing the appeal of fireworks and their new value with the world.
