Zojirushi Ginpaku Onigiri Kintetsu Nara Opens July 22 With First-Ever Tamagomaru Dashimaki Tamago Collaboration

Zojirushi Ginpaku Onigiri Kintetsu Nara, the third location for Zojirushi Mahobin's onigiri specialty shop concept, opens Wednesday, July 22, on the B1 floor of Kintetsu Department Store Nara.

Built around the concept "onigiri crafted through mastering the art of cooking rice," the shop serves onigiri and bento made with rice cooked in the company's flagship Enbu-daki pressure IH rice cooker. As a Kintetsu Nara-exclusive initiative, the store is also collaborating for the first time with Tamagomaru, a shop renowned for its dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet) — every bento sold here comes with Tamagomaru's dashimaki tamago.

Collaboration With Tamagomaru

The collaboration grew out of a shared idea between the two companies: Zojirushi's aim of making delicious rice more accessible while preserving Japan's rice culture, and Tamagomaru's commitment to bringing traditional flavor to the table through dashimaki tamago carefully grilled one at a time using dashi made from carefully selected ingredients. With rice and egg being a classic pairing, the two companies' shared focus on flavor and their wish to reach more people led to this Kintetsu Nara-exclusive collaboration bento.

Nara Pickles Tuna Mayo

Nara Pickles Tuna Mayo — ¥350 (tax included)

A classic tuna mayo onigiri gets a Nara twist with diced nara-zuke (sake lees pickles). The mild flavor of the sake lees blends into the tuna mayo, and the crisp, springy texture of the pickles makes for a distinctive bite that pairs tradition with a familiar favorite.

The Rice Behind Every Onigiri

The rice is an original blend selected by a five-star certified rice sommelier. It's cooked in the Enbu-daki pressure IH rice cooker using a method developed specifically for onigiri, and all rice is cooked fresh in the kitchen attached to the store.

About the Enbu-daki Pressure IH Rice Cooker

The rice cooker uses a "3D Rotation IH" structure that expands the usual single bottom IH heater into six independently controlled heaters. This creates strong convection inside the pot, delivering high heat evenly to each grain of rice for fluffy rice cooked through to the core.
