Hitachi Seaside Park Nemophila - Sea of Blue Flowers Scenic Spot
About This Event
Hitachi Seaside Park is a vast national park spanning flower gardens and greenery located in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Situated on a plateau overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it has been beloved by many visitors for its beautiful seasonal floral landscapes since opening in 1991.
The park's greatest attraction is the nemophila that colors the entire "Miharashi Hill." Approximately 5.3 million nemophila plants are cultivated each year, and during their peak blooming period from mid-April to early May, the small sky-blue flowers dye the entire hillside like a blue carpet. On clear days, the three blues of flowers, sky, and sea overlap to create a fantastical scene as if floating in the sky.
This grand-scale flower field can be enjoyed as a spectacular panorama overlooking the Pacific Ocean from the top of the hill, while the blue wave of flowers viewed from below is equally breathtaking. The beautiful contrast with the yellow of canola flowers that bloom simultaneously with the nemophila provides diverse photography opportunities. Visitors can efficiently tour the grounds not only on foot but also via the Seaside Train and rental bicycles, making it one of Japan's representative spring scenic spots that attracts attention from both domestic and international visitors.
