About This Event

The National Showa Memorial Park, spanning approximately 180 hectares across Tachikawa City and Akishima City in Tokyo, is a vast national park developed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa's reign. The park features seasonal flower fields, Japanese gardens, cycling courses, and more, making it a beloved recreational space representing the Tokyo metropolitan area. The "Cosmos Festival," an autumn tradition, is a popular event held annually from September to October, showcasing over 4 million cosmos flowers blooming across three locations within the park. Visitors can enjoy distinct landscapes at each site: the Flower Hill, where yellow cosmos "Lemon Bright" spreads across the entire area; the Harappo West Flower Field, featuring beautiful large pink and white blooms; and the Bouquet Garden at Harappo South Flower Field, displaying approximately 20 varieties. Photogenic soap bubble performances and various workshops are held mainly on weekends, allowing visitors to explore the expansive grounds by bicycle while enjoying the autumn floral scenery. With excellent access—just a 2-minute walk from JR Nishi-Tachikawa Station—it's an ideal spot to visit during Tokyo sightseeing.
