Combined sales of the console versions of the horror game series Ao Oni on Nintendo Switch™ and PC (Steam®) have surpassed 250,000 units, according to LiTMUS Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Soichiro Kuwamura) and Game Studio Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President Kazuhiro Fujishige). New details have also been revealed on the Ao Oni Horror Pencil, an early purchase bonus for the package versions of Ao Oni 2 and Ao Oni: Seaside School Trip, scheduled for release on October 8, 2026.

The console version of the Ao Oni series has delivered scares to players around the world. After reaching 200,000 units sold in December 2025, the series has kept up its momentum and now surpassed 250,000 units sold.
A major driver behind the jump from 200,000 to 250,000 units was the latest release, which began digital distribution on August 6, 2026: a two-in-one package featuring the acclaimed Ao Oni 2 alongside the brand-new Ao Oni: Seaside School Trip. Support from horror fans and game streamers played a large part in reaching this new milestone.

Details have been revealed for the first time about the Ao Oni Horror Pencil, an early purchase bonus for the package version (Switch 2 key card format) scheduled for release on October 8, 2026.

This release lets players experience two titles in one package: Ao Oni 2, the hit sequel originally released on smartphones, and the all-new Ao Oni: Seaside School Trip.
1. Ao Oni 2
The official sequel to the hit horror game moves the setting to an eerie abandoned school. Protagonist Hiroshi and friends try to escape the locked-down school while evading the elusive blueberry-colored monster Ao Oni and solving the puzzles hidden throughout the building. The game is packed with scares and replay value, including multiple variations of Ao Oni and a speed-up mode.
2. Ao Oni: Seaside School Trip (completely new title)
Set during a summer seaside school trip, this entirely new scenario follows the protagonist and friends as they try to escape a closed-off school building by solving its mysteries. For the first time in the series, stages can be played in any order, allowing for a variety of routes depending on the player's trial and error. New Oni designs, including the Anatomical Model Oni and the Blowfish Oni, bring unfamiliar attack patterns, and a giant boss battle also awaits.
17x Speed Mode
Both scenarios include a 17x Speed Mode, the fastest in series history, delivering the thrill of escaping Ao Oni at extreme speed.
