The "Delicious! Connected! Baumkuchen Expo" is returning to the Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin Store for its second edition. Running from April 1 (Wed) to April 6 (Mon), 2026, the event will be held on the 8th floor event hall of the main building, open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (closing at 5:00 PM on the final day).
The expo brings together 23 brands with their own booths, and an instant-sale corner stocked with more than 250 varieties of regional baumkuchen from all 47 prefectures — adding up to over 400 types of baumkuchen filling the venue in total.
Baumkuchen: An Auspicious Treat for April New Beginnings

Baumkuchen is a German baked confection whose name means "tree cake." Since being introduced to Japan in 1919, its layered construction — thin layers of batter baked one atop another to resemble tree rings — has come to symbolize the accumulation of happiness, making it a popular gift at weddings and longevity celebrations.
April is a month full of new beginnings, and this timing makes the event a fitting opportunity to pick up a baumkuchen that doubles as a celebratory gift. Some products feature seasonal flower designs in a wreath-like arrangement, adding a festive touch.
Baumkuchen Crepes: A Chewy New Treat

Fresh-made crepes using baumkuchen batter — rich in butter and eggs — will be on sale at the venue. Available in flavors like maple sugar, milk jam, and pizza-style, these freshly made crepes are one of the highlights of the event.
