A pop-up event dedicated entirely to "肝油ドロップ" (kan-yu drop, liver oil drops) is coming to Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin, welcoming visitors of all ages — from seniors to younger generations.
Kan-yu drop is a supplement product that allows users to easily take in Vitamin A and Vitamin D through just a few drops per day. Since its creation in 1911, it has been provided at educational institutions and other settings to support health and nutritional supplementation. In recent years, rising health awareness combined with the release of new products has sparked renewed interest across all age groups.
History of Kan-yu Drop
● 1911 (Meiji 44) — Mitsuwa Kan-yu Drops
At the time, liver oil had a distinctively strong odor, making it difficult to consume. Through repeated efforts to create a more palatable form using liver oil extracted from codfish, a jelly-like drop called "Kan-yu Drop" was completed in Meiji 44 (1911), making full use of its high nutritional value.
This innovative product, sweet and easy to eat, was widely accepted and became broadly popular.

After repeated improvements to taste and stability, the main vitamin ingredients used in the products were switched from fish-derived raw materials to pharmaceutical-grade vitamin raw materials to improve safety.
The current "animal series" — which has an adorable new look — followed the popular school-distributed products and launched for general sale in 2004. Since then, new-design products have continued to appear, with pop-up events across the country sharing their appeal.
