Calbee's popular Pizza Potato chips are getting a special limited-edition collaboration with the beloved Nintendo game series Kirby. Three collaboration package designs are set to roll out at convenience stores across Japan from late April 2026, with sales expected to run through early June 2026. This marks the first time Calbee has collaborated with the Kirby franchise.
Background
Pizza Potato is a line of potato chips topped with cheese-flavored flakes and parsley, recreating the taste of an authentic pizza. Calbee's proprietary "Melt Flake Process" — which layers cheese-flavored flakes onto freshly fried, piping-hot chips — delivers a rich and intense cheese flavor. Since launching in 1992, the product has undergone multiple reformulations of its cheese blend and packaging redesigns, with the 15th generation Pizza Potato debuting in 2024. Alongside the standard variety, numerous limited-edition flavors have been released over the years.
The Kirby game series also first appeared in 1992 — the very same year Pizza Potato launched. As two favorites that have been enjoyed by fans of all ages for more than three decades, the collaboration came naturally. The packaging comes in three designs, which will add a colorful touch to store shelves alongside the standard Pizza Potato.
Packaging Highlights

Kirby is featured prominently on each package, with cheese-themed design elements that highlight Pizza Potato's signature flavor. The three collaboration package designs feature Kirby using his inhale ability, Kirby sitting on top of a pile of cheese, and Kirby transformed through his copy ability.
