ETERNAL Art Space will present the exhibition "RESONANCE — Tradition Reimagined" at MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives (MoN Takanawa) in TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY for four days, from Friday, November 20 to Monday, November 23 (national holiday), 2026. The exhibition, titled "ETERNAL Art Space Exhibition 2026," will be held at the same time as "MUTEK.JP 2026."
The theme, "RESONANCE," expresses the idea that traditional culture handed down in Japan meets contemporary digital art, giving rise to new values and forms of expression.
Eight artists and creative teams from Japan and abroad will take part, including Carsten Nicolai, Hatis Noit, Akiko Nakayama (中山晃子), FLIGHTGRAF and Shohei Fujimoto (藤元翔平). Through a wide range of expression, including video, sound, audiovisual installations, ikebana and digital art, they reinterpret the sense of beauty and spirituality that lives in Japanese tradition from a contemporary perspective.
Tradition and technology, craftsmanship and digital creativity. By letting expressions from different eras, fields and cultural backgrounds resonate with one another, the exhibition connects the culture inherited from the past with future creation and presents new possibilities.

Installations and audiovisual works will be shown at MoN Takanawa, each making use of the characteristics of its space: the 2F Entrance Lobby, the 3F Sun Lab / Land Lab and the 4F Tatami.
The exhibits on the 2F and 3F are free to view. In the 4F Tatami, for three days only from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 22, an audiovisual installation by ETERNAL Art Space and an experiential installation, "Awai Ma" (あわい間), using Yamaha Group's 3D sound solution "Sound xR," will be shown alternately. The works by ETERNAL Art Space are paid, while "Awai Ma" is free (advance reservation required).
The exhibition is held as part of the 2026 (Reiwa 8) 日本博による地域固有文化コンテンツ創出補助事業 (Japan Arts Council / Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Works on Display on the 2F and 3F (Free)
2F Entrance Lobby | Shohei Fujimoto — intangible #form
The 2F Entrance Lobby will show the laser installation "intangible #form" by Shohei Fujimoto. Using laser light with no physical substance, the work draws a three-dimensional structure in the space. Through the geometric structures created by countless lines of light, it asks about the relationship between the viewer's perception and imagination, and reality.

Shohei Fujimoto — intangible #form
3F Sun Lab / Land Lab | ike-bana — Interpreted Scape
A project that reinterprets ikebana, a traditional Japanese culture, from a contemporary perspective. "ike-bana," a new label created by Kado Iemoto Ikenobo (華道家元池坊), BAUMX (the spatial experience marketing business of Konica Minolta Japan) and enigma, proposes an experience unique to the present while carrying on tradition.

3F Sun Lab / Land Lab | Akiko Nakayama — Hemispherical Portraits (半球体の肖像)
A work that likens a bubble to a momentary life and depicts the expressions created by the flow of ink. The colors that spread across the surface of the bubble through surface tension and pressure differences never take the same form twice, drawing a fleeting yet unique portrait.

Akiko Nakayama — Hemispherical Portraits (半球体の肖像)
3F Sun Lab / Land Lab | FLIGHTGRAF — LOOP
"LOOP" is a kinetic light sculpture that FLIGHTGRAF developed over about eight years. Inspired by the mystique of crop circles and the power symbolized by an endless circle, the work combines light, movement and sound as one. Its independently developed freestanding system creates an immersive experience that transforms the entire space.

ETERNAL Art Space 4F Tatami image
In the 4F Tatami, audiovisual works curated by ETERNAL Art Space and an installation using Yamaha Group's 3D sound solution "Sound xR" will be shown for three days, from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 22, 2026. On Monday, November 23 (national holiday), a separate program, "PLASTIKMAN | POLYPHONIC FERMENTATION," will be presented.
Shuhei Matsuyama & Tetsuji Ohno — Hyperbolic Scape (Paid)
Inspired by the karesansui (dry landscape) of Japanese gardens, this work reinterprets the spirituality of Japanese culture and its concepts of time and space through digital technology. Using 3D scan data and satellite information from around the world, it reconstructs landscapes of different eras and places in digital space. Through "shukkei" (縮景), "mitate" (見立て) and "shakkei" (借景), aesthetic concepts unique to Japan, it draws a new landscape where tradition and contemporary technology intersect. (Running time: 6 minutes 35 seconds)

Shuhei Matsuyama & Tetsuji Ohno — Hyperbolic Scape
Hatis Noit — Aura (Paid)
"Aura" is a video work by Hatis Noit, a Japanese vocalist and musician based in London. Rooted in the awe and comfort of nature the artist experienced in the forest of Shiretoko in the artist's home region of Hokkaido, the work unfolds a musical world built from layer upon layer of the artist's own voice alone, together with video. It was produced as part of "縁 The Circle," a project by The Light Surgeons, and uses archive footage from the BFI National Archive. (Running time: 7 minutes 22 seconds)

Carsten Nicolai — WAVE WEAVE in collaboration with HOSOO (Paid)
A collaboration between German artist and electronic musician Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) and HOSOO, a long-established Nishijin-ori textile house in Kyoto. The work visualizes the production process in which the score of electronic music is converted into a visual pattern and woven into the design of a Nishijin-ori obi. Through footage shot at workshops in Kyoto and Tamba and an original electronic composition, it presents a world where traditional craft and contemporary digital expression intersect. (Running time: 23 minutes 22 seconds)

Sound xR Installation — Awai Ma (あわい間) (Free, Advance Reservation Required)
Another world spreads beyond the shoji screen.
Through the shoji, a traditional Japanese sliding fixture, this installation lets visitors experience the "awai" (in-between) of inside and outside, sound and silence, and space and time. Sound, video and the look of the space change in response to the opening and closing of the shoji. Using Yamaha Group's 3D sound solution "Sound xR," light, video and sound overlap, transforming a single space into an "awai" that connects many worlds.
In a modern society full of information and stimulation, the work asks about the richness of simply spending time and feeling something, without any particular purpose.
