XREAL, a developer and manufacturer of AR (Augmented Reality) glasses, announced its equipment sponsorship for the AR experience "Cyberbrain VISION" at the Ghost in the Shell Exhibition: Ghost and the Shell. This historic exhibition spanning all Ghost in the Shell anime series will be held at TOKYO NODE, an information hub at Toranomon Hills, from January 30 (Fri) to April 5 (Sun), 2026.

The exhibition offers visitors a chance to experience the long-awaited "cyberization" by wearing AR glasses inspired by those worn by Motoko Kusanagi. Rather than simply viewing the exhibition, visitors can "DIVE" into the world of Ghost in the Shell—the cyberspace itself—through this entirely new immersive experience. Tachikoma from the S.A.C. anime series serves as the guide, allowing visitors to enjoy a deeper appreciation of the series' world.

About Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell is a science fiction manga series created by Masamune Shirow, first published in 1989 in "Young Magazine Pirate Edition," a special issue of the seinen magazine "Young Magazine." The story follows Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg (prosthetic body) with exceptional abilities in cyberwarfare and combat, who holds the rank of Major. Leading the offensive unit "Public Security Section 9," she confronts increasingly complex and violent crimes. The series features realistic, detailed illustrations while exploring cyberpunk elements and philosophical themes, deeply examining the fusion of humans and technology, and individual identity. It has influenced countless creators.
The original manga was followed by the 1995 theatrical anime "GHOST IN THE SHELL" directed by Mamoru Oshii, the 2002 television anime "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the 2013 theatrical anime "Ghost in the Shell: Arise" with Kazuchika Kise as chief director, the 2017 Hollywood live-action film "Ghost in the Shell," and the 2020 streaming anime "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045" co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki. Looking ahead to 2026, a new television anime "Ghost in the Shell: THE GHOST IN THE SHELL" is scheduled to air, directed by Moko-chan, with series composition and screenplay by Toh EnJoe, character design and chief animation director by Shuhei Handa, and animation production by Science SARU. Ghost in the Shell has expanded across theatrical anime, television anime, and video games, each presenting unique storylines, interpretations, and expressions that differ from the original manga.
