Grand Mercure Ise-shima Resort & Spa, an all-inclusive resort hotel set on a hilltop overlooking the rias coastline within Ise-Shima National Park, will host a variety of summer-limited events from July through September 2026. Highlights include a Lantern Night, a garden pool open both day and night, a natural material bag-making workshop, a poolside food truck, glowing super ball scooping, and table magic shows — a lineup crafted for guests of all ages.
Lantern Night
Lanterns are a traditional custom in various parts of Asia — paper hot-air balloons that have long been released into the sky carrying prayers for good health and heartfelt wishes. Ise-shima, with its deep ties to prayer and the spirit of gratitude known as "okagesamade" — a feeling embodied by the beloved Okage Yokocho shopping street — offers a fitting backdrop for this kind of reflective experience.
At Grand Mercure Ise-shima Resort & Spa, guests can write personal messages on inflated lanterns and release them all at once into the night sky on staff's cue. After the event, the lanterns are pulled back down by string, and guests are welcome to take them home as a memento of their stay.

Natural Material Bag-Making Workshop
"Matoya no Mori," a wood-play kids' space that opened in April 2026, is a hands-on experience area built with an abundance of Mie Prefecture timber, centered around the theme of "touching, learning, and creating." In the "crafting workshop" zone, a limited-run natural material bag-making workshop is held during the summer period. Working alongside an instructor, guests decorate jute bags with wood chips, sea glass, and other natural materials to create a one-of-a-kind natural-style bag. Since all decorating is done with a glue gun — no tools required — even young children can participate with ease. Finished bags can be brought home as a souvenir.
