Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort in Nagano Prefecture opens its 2026 green season on Thursday, April 23. The mountain resort at the foot of the Northern Alps offers panoramic mountain scenery from its 1,100-meter summit area alongside a wide variety of activities, seasonal food options, and special events running through November 15.

To mark the start of the green season, a community litter-picking event called the "Gerende Clean Act" is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 on the ski slopes and surrounding areas used during winter. The event aims to give back to the mountain and preserve the natural landscape for future visitors.

  • Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026 (cancelled in case of rain)
  • Schedule: 1:00 PM — Registration at gondola base station; 1:30 PM–2:30 PM — Summit area cleanup; 3:00 PM — End
  • Note: Participants take the gondola to the summit after registration. Free time follows after the event ends, and staying on the summit is welcome.
  • Gift: One complimentary 2026 green season ticket per participant

During Golden Week, younger visitors can try "Iwatake Dongle Picking VR," a hands-on virtual reality game where players pick up fallen acorns and place them in a basket while surrounded by woodland animals. The game requires no controller — players simply use natural hand gestures in the immersive environment.

At HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR's THE CITY BAKERY on the summit, the NY-origin bakery's Japan flagship pays tribute to Osaka's beloved "mix juice" tradition. The drink blends diced white peach, pineapple, and banana with apple juice and milk.

Mutual Discount Campaign with Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort and the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, accessible from Ogizawa Station in Omachi City on the Nagano side, are running a mutual discount campaign. Visitors who show their ticket from one of the two attractions can purchase a discounted ticket for the other.

Additionally, a combo ticket bundling the Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort entry ticket with a bus ticket to Kurobe Dam is available through Asoview! starting April 22 (Wed).

This season again, the resort offers popular activities including the "Hakuba Giant Swing" — a massive swing at 1,100 meters elevation — along with the scenic "Yoohoo! Swing presented by Nyanko Daisensou," hands-free relaxation yoga, horseback riding, and mountain biking. A music live event, now in its sixth year, is also planned.

Pets are welcome at the resort this season as well. The Buggy Cruise lets the whole family ride through fresh green scenery, and a dog run at the summit lets pets run freely in a wooded, relatively cool environment.
