3,500 Rubber Ducks Fill the Splash Plaza - Summer Water Play at Harvest Hill

At Sakai Green Museum Harvest Hill, an agricultural experience park in Minami Ward, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, the popular summer spot Splash Plaza is bustling with visitors.

The approximately 1,800 square meter plaza includes areas like the Mushroom Zone and the Windmill Zone, where both kids and adults have a blast playing in the water shooting up from the fountains.

Since July 18, the Windmill Zone has been hosting Duck Flood, an event where more than 3,500 rubber ducks float across the water. The bright yellow ducks blanketing the surface make for an irresistible photo opportunity.

In August, the park will also open two hours earlier than usual, at 8:00 AM. Splash Plaza will open one hour earlier too, starting at 9:00 AM.

8 AM Opening in August

In the height of summer, the park will open at 8:00 AM in August so visitors can start enjoying the cooler morning hours. Guests can view the sunflower fields at their peak bloom, or head to Splash Plaza and the play equipment, both open earlier than usual.

70,000 Sunflowers

Two flower fields hold a total of 70,000 sunflowers standing tall toward the sun. During peak bloom, visitors can walk into the fields for photos surrounded by sunflowers. In August, the fields can be viewed starting at 8:00 AM.

A separate flower field also has multi-branching sunflowers in bloom.

Summer Festival

Food trucks, carnival game stalls, Bon Odori dancing, and a mini fireworks show fill the evening with lively entertainment. The night wraps up with about five minutes of fireworks, lighting up the night sky over Harvest Hill up close, set to music.

Drenched! Survival Battle

In Water Battle, teams compete with water guns in a match that's sure to leave everyone soaked. Players work together with teammates, aiming to hit the opposing team's poi paper targets.

Capybara & Goat Watermelon Party

As a heatstroke countermeasure for the capybaras and goats, they're treated to watermelon, which is both hydrating and one of their favorite foods. Visitors can watch them munch away happily, and the strength of their teeth and jaws often draws surprised reactions as they eat straight through the rind.

Summer Snow Hill

Feel like winter in the middle of summer! This special event lets visitors enjoy cool, refreshing snow play during the hot season. Both kids and adults have a blast in the falling and piled-up snow.

About Harvest Hill

Sakai Green Museum Harvest Hill is an agricultural experience park in Minami Ward, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture. The 350,000 square meter grounds are divided by a suspension bridge into the Town Area and the Village Area, and feature seasonal flower fields in full bloom, a 36-meter-tall Ferris wheel, slides, go-karts and other rides, feeding and interacting with animals such as sheep and capybaras, hands-on cooking, craft, and pottery classes, and Sylvanian Park, an outdoor theme park recreating Sylvanian Village.
