Hassenkaku Launches Its First-Ever Original Keychain Capsule Toy, Letting Diners Take the Memory of Their Meal Home, at Tenjin Sky Beer Garden

Hassenkaku (Head office: Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City; Representative: Shinya Harada), part of the Saibu Gas Group, has begun selling its first-ever original keychain capsule toy machine since the restaurant's founding in 1967, offered for a limited time at Tenjin Sky Beer Garden.

The keychains are modeled after dishes the restaurant has long been loved for, including its special Hakata sara udon (特製博多皿うどん), chili shrimp, and sweet and sour pork.

Items that don't usually take center stage — like the hot pot, Hassenkaku's logo mark, and original illustrations — have also been turned into acrylic charms, rounding out a lineup that's hard to resist collecting.

Rather than a meal that simply ends when the last bite is gone, the idea is to "take today's memories home." It's a new kind of dining experience.

An Era of Bringing Mealtime Memories Home

For many years, Hassenkaku has brought smiles to many customers through Chinese cuisine. Recently, though, "experience" and "memories" have come to be valued alongside the taste of the food itself.

At the same time, the spread of fan culture and collecting hobbies has helped the capsule toy market expand year after year, and it has become a popular pastime for adults as well.

That's what led Hassenkaku to ask: could the memory of a meal be turned into something tangible? The answer was an original keychain modeled after the restaurant's dishes.

Which design comes out is part of the fun of the spin. There are 10 designs in all, one of which is a secret.

Swapping duplicates with friends or aiming to complete the full set adds a new way to enjoy the time after the beer garden.

Bringing More Smiles, Even Through Favorite Menu Items

After enjoying the beer garden, capping off the visit with a gacha spin adds a bit of new excitement.

Back home, seeing the keychain on a bag or set of keys might bring back the memory of "how good that meal was" — the aim is to create an item that sparks conversation.

Sharing the keychains with friends or family, or posting them on social media, is also expected to become a new way to connect that goes beyond the meal itself.

A New Challenge Ahead of the 60th Anniversary

This time, Hassenkaku is taking on something beyond simply "eating" — the fun of "taking home," "collecting," and "wanting to show someone."

With its 60th anniversary coming up next year, Hassenkaku is stepping beyond the traditional boundaries of a restaurant to deliver not just the joy of eating, but the joy of collecting as well.
