Japanese leather brand HIROFU (ヒロフ), which operates stores primarily in department stores across Japan, has added a new bag series called VITALE (ヴィターレ) to its 2026 spring/summer collection. The series became available on February 27 at HIROFU stores nationwide and through the brand's online store.
Founded in 1978, HIROFU operates under the concept of Simple/Minimal/Contemporary, focusing on timeless designs that hold up regardless of seasonal trends.
The VITALE series is designed to balance lightness with everyday practicality. The bags use an original vegetable tannin leather derived from natural materials. As with many vegetable tannin leathers, the material is expected to deepen in sheen and become smoother with regular use, gradually developing a distinct patina over time.
To keep the bags light, the interior uses a camel beige microfiber lining, which also peeks out at the top edge of the bag as a subtle design detail. While the exterior appears straightforward, the finishing work reflects considerable craft — the koba (cut edge along the sides of the leather) and the hand stitching at the handle base each require a high level of skill to execute cleanly.
The series comes in two sizes: the M size accommodates an A5-format item, while the L size is large enough to hold a notebook PC. Both include a detachable shoulder strap stored inside the bag, which can be quickly attached when extra carrying capacity is needed, converting the tote into a shoulder bag.
The M size (VITALE Tote Bag 2WAY M) is priced at ¥74,800 (tax included).
The L size (VITALE Tote Bag 2WAY L) is priced at ¥79,200 (tax included).
