About Peter Rabbit™ / Beatrix Potter™
Beatrix Potter was born in London in July 1866. The story of Peter Rabbit originated in a picture-letter she sent in 1893 to the sick son of a friend named Noel. She self-published the first edition of The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 1901, and a color version was published by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1902—the first of 23 picture books she ultimately created. After moving from London to the Lake District, she devoted her later years to sheep farming and nature conservation. Hill Top Farm, where she actually lived and which appears in her books, is preserved today by the National Trust as it was during her lifetime, drawing fans of Peter Rabbit from around the world. The series has been published in 110 countries in 48 languages, with total sales exceeding 250 million copies.
