Hotel New Grand's "Summer Lunch Buffet" Returns to the Historic Phoenix Room in Yokohama

Hotel New Grand (10 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama; General Manager: Hirofumi Kiso) is holding a "Summer Lunch Buffet" for six days only, from Tuesday, August 11 (a public holiday) to Sunday, August 16, 2026.

This year's venue is the Phoenix Room, which welcomed many guests as the hotel's main dining room when it first opened. The lineup features an array of dishes that Hotel New Grand takes pride in, including its original seafood doria and spaghetti Napolitan, a curry that is a guest favorite, and desserts made with plenty of seasonal fruit. The chef also grills domestic beef fillet teppanyaki-style right in front of guests, and the hotel's time-honored roast beef, a recipe passed down through generations, is carved to order at the buffet.

Guests can savor a full meal in this history-filled space, built in a traditional Japanese architectural style not normally open to the public.

The Phoenix Room on the 2nd Floor of the Main Building

Opened in 1927 (Showa 2) as the hotel's main dining room, the Phoenix Room was designed in a traditional Japanese shrine-and-temple architectural style, a deliberate choice at a time when most of the hotel's guests were visitors from overseas. The room still serves as a banquet hall today, and stepping inside reveals ornate ceiling decorations and an atmosphere found nowhere else at the hotel.
