Hotel New Otani Osaka's All-Day Dining "SATSUKI" is revamping its breakfast buffet, "Delicious and Healthy Breakfast," with a renewed "Wellness Morning" focus ahead of the 2026 spring pollen season. Starting March 12, the lineup will also include limited-time cherry blossom menu items timed to arrive before Osaka Castle Park's famous sakura blossoms come into full bloom.
Pollen Season 2026 – Why Gut and Body Warmth Matter
With pollen counts forecast to exceed average levels across nearly all of Japan in 2026, the breakfast buffet is being designed around proactive health management. The menu's approach centers on two complementary concepts: gut health (腸活), which focuses on supporting the immune system through gut flora, and body warming (温活), which helps activate gut function by raising core body temperature. Together, these elements form the backbone of the spring wellness breakfast.

A Hotel Breakfast Built for Gut Health
One of the most distinctive items on the buffet is grilled unagi (freshwater eel) – an unexpected choice for a morning meal that goes well beyond the typical hotel breakfast. Unagi is rich in vitamins A and the B group, nutrients that tend to be lacking in modern diets. Vitamin A in particular supports mucous membrane health, which becomes especially important during the pollen-heavy spring months.

Japanese Fermented Foods for a Synergistic Effect
Pairing the unagi with fermented staples such as natto and house-made miso soup creates what the menu calls "the ultimate stamina gut health combination," delivering quality protein and beneficial bacteria in a single breakfast sitting.
Western-Style Synbiotics Option
For guests who prefer a Western breakfast, the buffet offers chewy Iwaizumi yogurt and natural cheese. When followed by fruits such as banana or lychee, the combination provides both beneficial bacteria and the dietary fiber that feeds them – a concept known as "synbiotics" – for a more efficient approach to gut health.
[Limited Time] Cherry Blossom Menu Ahead of Osaka Castle Park's Blooms

Osaka Castle Park, located right in front of the hotel, is one of the Kansai region's most celebrated cherry blossom destinations. The park is home to approximately 3,000 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino varieties in the Nishinomaru Garden, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property area. According to WeatherNews' 2026 cherry blossom forecast for western Japan, Osaka's blossoms are expected to open on March 28.
Starting March 12, well ahead of the official bloom, the "SATSUKI" dining room will transform into a spring-themed setting. New seasonal additions to the buffet include dishes garnished with salted pickled cherry blossoms and pink sakura-colored sweets. After a wellness-focused breakfast, guests can step out to enjoy the blossoms at their peak – making for a restorative spring morning right in the heart of Osaka.
