Background to the Manhole Cover Installation
Toshima City has been working to build a town that draws visitors from Japan and abroad by polishing manga and anime as one of its distinctive local brands and promoting them strategically. The TV anime BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! has an especially close connection to the area — the names of its five main characters are drawn from place names within Toshima City, and locations around Ikebukuro appear as settings in the story. The city has previously collaborated with the series on a digital stamp rally and a tie-in with the IKEBUS community bus. Building on this connection, Bushiroad Inc., which plans, produces, and oversees manga and anime projects, donated the design manhole cover on Wednesday, June 10, leading to its installation this time.

A city official commented on the installation: "Ikebukuro, a sacred place for anime fans, now has a new landmark: the BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! design manhole cover. When you visit Ikebukuro, we hope the manhole cover sparks your interest in the series, and that you'll also experience the charm of Toshima City for yourself."

Along the way, she learns that Tomori — known as "Haneoka's mysterious girl" — still hasn't joined a band, and Anon casually calls out to her...

About BanG Dream!
BanG Dream! is a next-generation girls' band project in which the characters and live performances are directly linked. It spans a media mix of anime, games, and real-life live concerts. The casts behind the in-story bands — Poppin'Party, Roselia, Morfonica, RAISE A SUILEN, MyGO!!!!!, Ave Mujica, and Mugendai Mewtype — have formed real bands and actively perform live with real instruments.
BanG Dream! marked the project's 11th anniversary on February 28, 2026, and is currently streaming the mini-anime GANSO! BanG Dream Chan, a 52-episode series airing over the course of a year. From 11:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, the TV anime BanG Dream! Yume∞Mita, starring Mugendai Mewtype, is scheduled to air, with episodes #1 through #3 broadcast together in the first airing. In fall 2026, the new film BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora — a sequel to both the TV anime BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and BanG Dream! Ave Mujica — is set for release, followed by a sequel TV anime for the same story in January 2027. A new mobile game, BanG Dream! Our Notes, is also in the works, as the project continues to expand in many directions beyond its 10th anniversary.
