Kawagoe Prince Hotel Launches Autumn Coffee-Tour Stay Plan Featuring 10 Local Cafés

Kawagoe Prince Hotel (1-22 Shintomicho, Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture; General Manager: Manabu Takeiri) is introducing a new accommodation plan built around the city's lesser-known "hidden Kawagoe" coffee scene. Available from October 1 (Thursday) through November 30 (Monday), 2026, the "Koedo Autumn Trip: A Basket Full of Favorites, Touring Coffee in Hidden Kawagoe" plan includes three coffee tickets redeemable across a pool of 10 coffee shops around town plus the hotel's own lobby lounge — 11 stops in total — as part of a citywide collaboration to spotlight Kawagoe's coffee culture.

The plan includes three coffee tickets for overnight guests, a basket, an original tumbler, and a walking map of Kawagoe's back streets. Rather than sticking to the classic sightseeing route through the warehouse district and past the Toki no Kane bell tower, guests are invited to wander the quieter alleys where old townhouse cafés and small roasteries are tucked away, searching out their own favorite cup on what the hotel calls an autumn walk unique to Kawagoe.

How to Enjoy the Plan

Staying overnight lets guests explore Kawagoe's coffee culture at their own pace.

  1. After check-in, pick up three coffee tickets, a basket, and a "hidden Kawagoe" walking map — co-created with local media outlet Kawagoe Magazine — at the front desk
  2. In the evening, enjoy coffee and a baked treat at a café in town
  3. At night, stroll the historic streets with a takeout coffee in the original tumbler
  4. The next morning after checkout, pick up a bag of beans from a favorite shop

Why the Hotel Created This Plan

Kawagoe is best known for sweet potatoes, grilled eel, and its historic warehouse streets, but in recent years the city has also drawn attention as a coffee town, home to a growing number of distinctive coffee shops and roasteries. Events such as the Kawagoe Coffee Festival (※1), which brings together roasters from across the country, and KAWAGOE COFFEE SELECTION (※2), a showcase of the city's own home-roasting cafés, reflect a coffee culture the whole city has helped build. The new plan was designed to celebrate "Kawagoe, the coffee town" in a way only a hotel can, giving overnight guests a reason to explore the city's coffee shops and discover back-alley scenes and everyday local life that don't usually make it into guidebooks.

Kawagoe Magazine covers food, sightseeing, and events around the city, publishing primarily online alongside Instagram and zine content, with its mascot character Tsukiimo-kun introducing the city's charms in a friendly, approachable way.
