Ginza Tsutaya Books Presents Takuma Fujisaki's Solo Exhibition "MOLnarrative" From August 29, Tracing 18 Years of Chenille Artistry Across Pop Culture and Art

Ginza Tsutaya Books (GINZA SIX 6F, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) is holding Takuma Fujisaki's solo exhibition "MOLnarrative" at GINZA ATRIUM from Saturday, August 29 to Tuesday, September 15, 2026. During the run, related pop-up displays will also be held at two locations inside the store.

Overview

Takuma Fujisaki is an art director and chenille artist who has explored the expressive possibilities of chenille and built a distinctive visual language that crosses pop art styles. He has held numerous exhibitions and workshops, mainly in Tokyo. This exhibition, "MOLnarrative," traces the trajectory of expression he has built over 18 years of working closely with chenille as his material.

The characters and three-dimensional works crafted from chenille, a handicraft material, give viewers a nostalgic sense of déjà vu along with a feeling of enjoyment. At the venue, independent pieces created over the years come together in a single space, reconstructing the artist's thinking, memories, and the atmosphere of the times in which each was made. Across the space, the boundaries between art, toy culture, and design are crossed, creating a new story that overlaps with each viewer's own memories and emotions.

Artist Statement

MOLnarrative is one artist's visual narrative, woven from the material of chenille.

A world woven from chenille — a little uneven, and somehow nostalgic.

Its forms carry a strange sense of déjà vu, a feeling of "I've seen this somewhere before."

The familiarity that grows from that déjà vu, and the enjoyment that rises from its positive colors, are the appeal of chenille art. The characters and three-dimensional works born from 18 years of continuously working with chenille are each an independent object, while also being fragments that hold the thoughts, experiences, memories, and atmosphere of the times in which they were made. This exhibition reconstructs that timeline as an exhibition, presenting not only the trajectory of chenille art but the ever-expanding shift in perspective that one artist has built up over the years.

Crossing the boundaries of pop culture, toy culture, design, and art, the distinctive visual language nurtured along the way overlaps with each viewer's own memories and emotions, giving rise to new stories.
