TOKYO Solamachi Hosts Summer Vacation Workshops — Wind Chime Painting, Hermit Crab Fishing, Candy Craft, and More

This summer, TOKYO Solamachi is hosting a lineup of hands-on workshops that welcome first-timers, kids, and adults alike. Highlights include a wind chime painting experience where visitors design their own chime (Mono to Art), the unusual hermit crab fishing and axolotl scooping games (AQUA FOREST), and an adorable animal-shaved-ice food sample workshop at Ganso Shokuhin Sample-ya.

Kiwa Seisakusho is offering a summery keychain-making workshop, while Asakusa Amezaiku Ameshin lets visitors try shaping a candy "ghost."

1. AQUA FOREST: Goldfish Scooping, Killifish Scooping, Hermit Crab Fishing, and Axolotl Scooping — Solamachi-Exclusive Workshop

Try the classic summer games of goldfish and killifish scooping, plus the unusual hermit crab fishing and axolotl scooping. Sturdy scoops are provided, so even kids can scoop or catch with ease.

3. Ganso Shokuhin Sample-ya: Animal Shaved-Ice Food Sample Making — Solamachi-Exclusive Workshop

Try making a food sample of an adorable animal-shaved-ice dessert. Participants can cut a pineapple and optionally add ice cream, fruit, or Tokyo Skytree wafers for an extra fee.

Chopsticks you shave and shape yourself become all the more special. This workshop uses fragrant hinoki cypress wood, with staff providing careful support, so it's beginner-friendly.

CHUMS' signature original bracelet-making workshop returns, with summery rope colors on offer. Make your own bracelet and wear it to add some extra summer spirit!

10. Sumida Aquarium: Perspective-Changing Goldfish

Flip the paper over from its center and the goldfish illustration mysteriously changes to show views from above, the side, and the front. Enjoy seeing a goldfish from every angle!

11. Postal Museum Japan: Make a Sparkly, Soothing Sensory Bottle

Fill an everyday empty bottle with beads and other small items to make an original sensory bottle — an educational toy with a calming effect as you watch the beads slowly move.

12. Tokyo Skytree® 5F "SKYTREE SHOP": Original T-Shirt and Tote Bag Making

Tokyo Skytree®'s 5F "SKYTREE SHOP" is also hosting a workshop where visitors can choose their favorite design to create an original T-shirt or tote bag. The venue will display and sell a range of T-shirts, including a fireworks design that captures the spirit of Japanese summer, along with other designs well-suited as Japan souvenirs.
