A New Series Built Around Collecting, Dioramas, and JDM Culture

With the growing number of "kidults," adults who enjoy hobbies and toys, more people are collecting minicars and displaying them in dioramas. Interest is also rising in JDM culture, which is popular overseas as well. tomica VIEW is a new series of realistic scenes designed to show off the appeal of cars, and it draws on familiar Japanese scenery.

JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market and refers to cars and parts made for the Japanese domestic market. In recent years, especially overseas, the term has come to describe Japanese cars and Japan's unique car culture, and interest has spread beyond the cars themselves to Japanese streetscapes and everyday scenery.

Easy to Assemble, With Story-Rich Designs and Accessories

Each set is a scene paired with a road, with buildings, small accessories, and roads and sidewalks included. No complicated assembly is needed, so it is easy to get started with dioramas. To recreate a realistic townscape, the sets feature detailed buildings, roads and sidewalks that can be rearranged with joint parts, and even carefully designed lighting. Simply placing Tomica cars and the included figures creates an everyday scene with cars and people, leaving room to imagine all kinds of stories. More sets based on familiar scenes are planned for the future.

Lighting That Sets Off the Tomica Collection

The built-in LED lights use a fade-in effect that brightens slowly. The type and placement of the LEDs and even the angle of the light were chosen with care to convey the atmosphere of a town.

7-Eleven

Two types of LED lights, one for the store interior and one for the internally lit signboard, are used to recreate a more realistic convenience store at night. Light spilling from the store is reflected on the car bodies, adding atmosphere to the display.

Vending Machine

The vending machine, whose layout can be changed, has built-in LEDs that shine through to reproduce the drink designs in fine detail. The LED color is modeled on a vending machine on a street corner at night, creating a realistic scene, and combining it with figures and Tomica cars opens up a range of scenes.

Display, Photograph, and Share Your Collection

The official fan community site "TOMICA OWNER'S CLUB," which opened on October 5 (Monday), is considering projects that suggest ways to enjoy layouts and sharing. Details will be posted on the website at a later date.
