Mitsubishi Pencil Adds Seven New uni Palette School Pencil Designs on November 6

Three new types of "uni Palette" (ユニ パレット) pencils, seven designs in all, go on sale on Friday, November 6, 2026. The series from Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd. is made for school children and is built around the theme "きみの“すき”はどんないろ?" ("What color is the thing you love?").

The uni Palette series has been available since 2008. It treats "color" as more than just a shade: each color stands for a child's own likes ("suki") and individuality. The new designs follow the concept of "giving form to children's 'likes'," and the lineup now includes the following three types:

  • A Nordic-style design with cute animals on warm wooden shafts
  • Gradient colors combined with sparkling motifs, for a special and exciting look
  • A simple design with Nano Dia (ナノダイヤ) pencil lead for smoother writing

The aim is a school pencil series in which children can choose the design that matches what they like. The series aims to keep evolving as a school pencil line that stays close to what children love.

In recent years, school supplies with simple designs and no excessive decoration have sometimes been recommended in educational settings. With that in mind, the new lineup keeps the designs simple while offering colors and patterns that let children express their preferences and individuality. By combining writing performance with design, it widens the choices available to children.

The Seven Designs

  • Animal designs: Dolphin, Hedgehog, Cat
  • Gradient color designs: FSC (ふわきらシーカラー), KIC (くらやみいきものカラー)
  • Nano Dia lead designs: ND01, ND02

What Makes the Series Special

For the new designs, the series is positioned as "handwriting pencils (かきかたえんぴつ) that add color to children's learning and daily life." Within a simple look, children can choose a design on their own because they think "I like this one" or "I want to use this one."

Cute Animals on a Warm Wooden Shaft

The package and the pencil shaft both carry illustrations of a dolphin, a hedgehog, and a cat. The natural, Nordic-style design lets the warmth of the wooden shaft come through.

Sparkling Foil Motifs and Gradient Colors

Soft tones and dreamy gradient colors make these designs a good match for children who like cute things. FSC (ふわきらシーカラー) has gold foil and KIC (くらやみいきものカラー) has silver foil, with motifs of shells, stars, and creatures subtly stamped in foil that catch the light.

Nano Dia Lead for Smoother Writing

This is the first time the uni Palette series has used Nano Dia (ナノダイヤ) pencil lead, and the lineup focuses on a smoother writing feel. The package features a penguin illustration that evokes smoothness, and the pencil shafts come in two gentle colors, blue and pink, so children can pick the one that suits their preference.
