V.A., the concept store run by JUN Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President Susumu Sasaki), releases a collection item with Unlikely starting September 18, 2026 (Friday). Named for the word "unlikely" — something that seems improbable or unlikely to happen — the brand reinterprets familiar items through a contrarian lens, proposing standards suited to the times.
Unlikely was founded in 2023 by creative director Shinsuke Nakata. Working from American uniforms as a base, the brand draws across vintage wear from different eras, deconstructing and reconstructing the various functions and details found within them into items that fit contemporary lifestyles.
This collection takes inspiration from vintage pieces that Nakata has long admired, keeping the look of the era while reconstructing it with a modern fit and silhouette.
The base piece is a lightweight raglan-sleeve crewneck sweatshirt of the kind that was popular in the 1970s and 1980s. The vintage item was analyzed down to its details, with its distinctive silhouette and details updated for today.
The fabric is Unlikely's original cotton-polyester blend, giving the piece a soft, light feel along with the texture of a vintage sweatshirt.
For the graphic, a Mickey Mouse character print evoking a vintage sweatshirt was used, with a rubber crack print expressing a cracked, aged-over-time look.
