Highlights
World-Level Breaking in Kurume
The WDSF Breaking for Gold World Series is an international competition series run by the WDSF. Breakers from around the world battle using exceptional physical ability, technique, musical expression, and originality.
The appeal of breaking is not only about winning or losing. Athletes also respond on the spot to the music played by the DJ and express their own individuality. Even first-time spectators can enjoy the energy and sense of unity in the venue.
From Paris 2024 to the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games: A New Stage for Breaking
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, AMI of Japan won the women's gold medal, and at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in October, Shigekix won a gold medal. The event brings together Japanese breakers who are active on the world stage and overseas competitors who continue to evolve, showing both the sport's development and its appeal as a culture.
Team Battle "The World Battle"
On Sunday, January 17, "The World Battle" will be held at the same venue. Unlike the one-on-one competition, it features battles that make use of team strategy, coordination, and individual styles. Details such as the participating teams and the format will be announced once they are decided.

Comments
Yukihiko Nunomura (布村幸彦), President of the Japan DanceSport Federation (公益社団法人日本ダンススポーツ連盟)
"Following last year's WDSF World Breaking Championships 2025 Kurume, I am delighted that we can host the Breaking for Gold World Series, which brings together breakers from countries and regions around the world, in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture. After the Paris 2024 Olympics, breaking has entered a new stage of development as a competitive sport. At the same time, music, culture, and a spirit of respect for one another remain at the heart of breaking. I hope this event will be a stage of challenge for athletes from around the world, and also an opportunity for local residents and children to discover the appeal of breaking."
Shigekix, Scheduled Japanese Athlete (World No. 1 and Gold Medalist at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games)
"I am really looking forward to battling the world's top B-Boys and B-Girls in Japan. I think breaking is not just about landing difficult moves, but about how you feel the music and express who you are. The individuality of each person and the atmosphere of a battle that exists only in that moment are also a big part of its appeal. I hope everyone who comes to Kurume can feel that appeal firsthand, and I will do my best to show the best performance I can."
The world ranking is as of October 26.
