Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, operated by TST Entertainment Co., Ltd. in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is holding "Acche! Niigata Fes 2026" on Monday, August 3, 2026, an event that brings a taste of Niigata's Nagaoka fireworks and edamame to the tower.
Built around the concept of "mastering what you love," the facility regularly welcomes both domestic and international visitors and holds events that let guests experience the culture and appeal of different regions of Japan without leaving Tokyo. Last year's "Acche! Niigata Fes," which introduced one of Japan's three great fireworks displays alongside local matsuri culture, was well received by visitors.
Continuing from last year, "Acche! Niigata Fes 2026" brings back a live viewing of the Nagaoka Matsuri Grand Fireworks Festival, one of Japan's three great fireworks displays, along with a mini "World Edamame Speed-Eating Championship" featuring edamame grown in Niigata. In front of the tower, at Kabukicho Cinecity Square, visitors can also catch a performance of the Niigata dance "Geta So Odori" and a free giveaway (while supplies last) of "Momotaro Ice," a Niigata specialty.
Acche! Niigata Fes Event Overview
The event brings a "Niigata x Summer" theme to Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, with a live viewing of Niigata's Nagaoka Matsuri Grand Fireworks Festival, a mini "World Edamame Speed-Eating Championship," and a giveaway of Niigata's famous Momotaro Ice.
World Edamame Speed-Eating Championship "mini" at Tokyu Kabukicho Tower
The "World Edamame Speed-Eating Championship" is an international competition held every year in Nagaoka City, Niigata, where contestants compete over how quickly they can eat a heaping bowl of edamame served beautifully in the "Niigata edamame mori" style. For this Kabukicho edition, the event is held as a mini tournament in which contestants compete over how many grams of a 200-gram portion they can eat within one minute. The winner receives a set of deluxe prizes.
Rio Nanami, an idol from Niigata, has also been confirmed as a special guest for the event.

Niigata Local Ice Cream Giveaway, "Geta So Odori" Performance, and an Appearance by Rehrusan, Japan's Original Ski Mascot, at Kabukicho Cinecity Square
On the same day, Kabukicho Cinecity Square, in front of the tower, will host a performance of the Niigata dance "Geta So Odori" and a free giveaway of the local specialty ice cream "Momotaro Ice." Rehrusan, Japan's original ski mascot, is also scheduled to appear during the event.

Rehrusan Profile
Rehrusan is a local Niigata character created to mark the 100th anniversary of skiing's introduction to Japan.
The character is modeled on Major Theodor von Lerch of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire, who taught the first ski lessons in Japan in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture.
His hobbies are skiing, hot springs, and traveling around the country in search of fun, interesting experiences, and his special skills are skiing and drawing. As "Japan's original ski man," he is active day and night to promote winter leisure and support Niigata's revitalization.
