Urban Research's regional project "JAPAN MADE PROJECT" — which operates under the concept of "Japan's regions are fascinating" — has collaborated with Amakusa Shuzo (合名会社 天草酒造), a brewery founded in Kumamoto's Amakusa in 1899, to release a series of exclusive items. The project was sparked when a JAPAN MADE PROJECT representative tasted "Ikenotsuyu" shochu at a restaurant, was so impressed that they visited the brewery directly, and made an enthusiastic offer to collaborate. The result is a line of passion-driven exclusive items aimed at Ikenotsuyu fans across Japan.

Ikenotsuyu Highball (Amakusa Shuzo × JAPAN MADE PROJECT)

This canned highball is the first of its kind from Amakusa Shuzo. Among the many Ikenotsuyu varieties, "Murasaki" — made from "Fukumurasaki," a high-sugar purple sweet potato variety that Amakusa Shuzo grows in-house — was chosen as the base. The Murasaki variety pairs beautifully with soda water, offering a wine-like sweetness and aroma alongside the refreshing pop of carbonation.

Ikenotsuyu Cup (Amakusa Shuzo × Takahama-yaki Juhogama × JAPAN MADE PROJECT)

A gourd-shaped shochu cup crafted by Takahama-yaki Juhogama, a pottery studio in Kumamoto's Amakusa. Made from a carefully selected grade of Amakusa porcelain stone — a material prized by potters throughout Japan — the cup has a distinctive white, translucent quality. It is a piece that distills the regional character of Amakusa.
