Dragon Quest Island, one of the most popular attractions at the anime theme park Nijigenomori on Awaji Island, is marking its 5th anniversary since opening on May 15, 2021. To celebrate, a special event titled "Dragon Quest Island 5th Anniversary Grand Thanksgiving Festival" is being held from April 17 to July 13, 2026.
5th Anniversary Mini-Game Challenge: Festival Stalls Open May 15
The second event of the anniversary celebrations, "5th Anniversary Exciting Mini-Game Challenge," opens on May 15, 2026, and runs through July 6. Four festival-style game stalls inspired by the Dragon Quest universe will be set up in the castle town area of Onokogarudo within the Dragon Quest Island attraction.
Each game costs ¥500 per play. Participants who complete all four games will receive a limited-edition original pocket tissue pouch as a bonus prize. Additionally, children who purchase an attraction entry ticket during the event period will receive a special ticket entitling them to one free game of their choice.

The four available games are:
① Tamanegi Slime's Korokoro Game
Roll an onion to land it in holes arranged in a 3×3 grid. Get a line horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to win a prize.
② Dokidoki Ring Toss Challenge
Toss five rings toward three different targets. Land a ring on any of the targets to win a prize.
③ Monster Battle Strike
Throw a ball at targets featuring illustrated monsters and accumulate points. Score 160 points or more to win a prize.
④ Slime Shoot Challenge

Remake Edition of Dragon Quest Island Also Launches in April 2026
Alongside the anniversary event, Dragon Quest Island has entered a new chapter with the launch of a remake of "Dragon Quest Island: The Ancient Demon God and the Guided Adventurers" in April 2026. Originally offered from March 2023 to October 2024, the remake features updated sub-quests and fresh storyline content.
The attraction merges the real world with digital technology to create a field RPG experience, where participants explore an original story as the protagonist. In addition to the main quest—searching for the golden bracelet—and the sub-quest "Take on Kandata's Mischief Operation!", a new sub-quest has been added.
