Kabuto Beer Festa 2026 will be held on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the Handa Red Brick Building in Aichi Prefecture. This annual celebration highlights a beer with deep roots in Japan's brewing history, now revived and enjoyed by a new generation of visitors.
The Story of Kabuto Beer
Kabuto Beer was born at the Handa Red Brick Building during the Meiji era, and once stood alongside Sapporo, Asahi, Yebisu, and Kirin as one of Japan's top five beers. Production came to a halt during wartime, but decades later, enthusiasm from fans across the country and passionate local citizens sparked a revival effort. The "Aka Renga Club Handa," a group dedicated to preserving the Handa Red Brick Building, played a central role in bringing Kabuto Beer back in 2005, and the annual festa grew from a desire to share the revived beer and its historic birthplace with more people.

This year's event features four types of Kabuto Beer: the revived Meiji, Taisho, and Showa era varieties, plus the special "Premium Taisho Kabuto Beer" — brewed fresh from the brewery with zero days of storage and unfiltered. This limited offering is available first-come, first-served at 200 bottles per day.
The event also features a BBQ Beer Garden using fresh local ingredients from the Chita Peninsula, with food grilled on shichirin charcoal grills. The combination of local flavors and cold Kabuto Beer promises a satisfying summer outing.
Other activities include a history quiz rally exploring the story of Kabuto Beer, guided tours of the permanent exhibit room, and a concurrent panel exhibition titled "The Kabuto Beer Revival Story," highlighting the beer's gold medal win at the 1900 Paris World's Fair.
