About Kamakura Kanmidokoro Kurumi
Kurumi opened in 1968 on what was then a quiet stretch of Kamakura's Komachi-dori. The shop's name comes from "Inari Koji Kurumigayatsu," the former address of the founding sisters' home, and reflects their wish to run a small but solid, trustworthy shop. Since its founding, Kurumi has continued to prepare each sweet by hand with the same care.
The shop's bold yet warm logo was created by Nihonga painter Junsaku Koizumi, known for his dragon ceiling paintings at Kamakura's Kenchoji Temple and Kyoto's Kenninji Temple.
