KOKO HOTEL Residence Kitaueno will open on Monday, February 1, 2027, in Kitaueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo, a downtown neighborhood between Ueno and Asakusa that retains its old-town charm. Reservations open from Monday, November 2, 2026.
The sixth property in the KOKO HOTEL Residence brand, the hotel has 39 rooms, all of them family and group rooms of at least 36.2 square meters with four beds. Depending on the room type, up to 5 guests can stay in one room. Every room also has living facilities such as a kitchen and washing machine. Guests can walk the neighborhood by day to experience local food and culture, then relax with family or friends in a spacious room at night, enjoying Tokyo sightseeing at their own pace as if they lived in the city.
A Base for Exploring Both Ueno and Asakusa
The hotel sits between Ueno and Asakusa, a location that makes it easy to reach either neighborhood.
In Ueno, visitors can head to Ueno Park, home to cultural facilities such as the Tokyo National Museum and the National Museum of Western Art, as well as Ueno Zoo and the lively Ameyoko Shopping Street. Asakusa is also within walking distance, where visitors can stroll around Sensoji Temple and Nakamise-dori Street. With art, history, gourmet food, and shopping, guests can visit these two neighborhoods, each with its own distinct appeal, depending on their mood that day.
The old-town streets around the hotel, where local life thrives, are also worth exploring. Kappabashi Dougu Street, lined with specialty shops for cooking tools and tableware, is within an easy stroll. Guests can pick out a favorite bowl or plate, choose ingredients and prepared dishes at nearby shops, and enjoy them in the in-room kitchen. The hotel suggests a trip that goes beyond famous sightseeing spots to touch the everyday life of the city.
The hotel is about a 7-minute walk from Iriya Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Inaricho Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, about a 10-minute walk from the Iriya Exit of JR Ueno Station, and about a 12-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express, offering access to multiple rail lines.
39 Rooms Over 36 Square Meters for Families and Groups
The 39 rooms come in three types, ranging from 36.2 to 37.7 square meters. Every room has bunk beds, for a total of four beds per room. The Standard Family Room and Comfort Family Room can accommodate up to 5 guests when the sofa bed is included.
All rooms are equipped with a kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, and other living facilities, and cookware, tableware, and cutlery are provided. The bathroom, washstand, and toilet are each separate, so families and friends can stay comfortably in the same room. From a few days of sightseeing to medium- and long-term stays, guests can feel at home.
In the dining space, guests can gather around prepared dishes they found in town or talk over the next day's plans, enjoying their time at the hotel as well. The interiors incorporate traditional Japanese colors, natural tones, and the texture and warmth of wood, creating a calm space where the fatigue of travel melts away.
