Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa is the official hotel of Sanrio Character Park Harmonyland.
This all-inclusive resort hotel in Hiji Town, Oita Prefecture, the "onsen prefecture" surrounded by lush mountains and sea, will hold limited-time events over the year-end and New Year holidays. On New Year's Day 2027, the Sanrio character Kuromi will visit the hotel for a mini stage show and a photo session. During the winter vacation period, the hotel also offers hands-on programs where guests learn from local instructors and discover the fun of making things. At the buffet restaurant, the theme is "pairing," discovering new flavors through combinations of ingredients, seasonings, and drinks, with dishes that showcase Oita's food culture and seasonal flavors. Guests can enjoy a year-end and New Year resort stay with something for every member of the family, all on an all-inclusive basis.
Kuromi Mini Stage Show and Photo Session on New Year's Day 2027 Only
The popular Sanrio character Kuromi appears for a mini stage show featuring quizzes and live performances, and a photo session. Hotel guests can take part as an event included in the room rate. A special plan combining a dinner buffet and lounge use is also available for day-trip guests.

Learn from a Three-Generation Miso Shop: Making "Jodoji Miso" (浄土寺味噌)
Craftspeople from Abe Saburo Shoten (阿部三郎商店), a long-established miso shop that has been run for three generations, serve as instructors for a traditional miso-making experience. Parents and children try making miso by hand while learning about the process and food culture from the craftspeople.

Oita Wagyu Suki-ni (おおいた和牛すき煮)

Meals are one of the great pleasures of a trip and a hotel stay. At the buffet of the restaurant Le Sensoriel, the hotel offers "Pairing" gourmet food to savor with the five senses, combining different ingredients and seasonings to bring out the character of each. Pairings that draw on Oita's ingredients and food culture are one of the attractions of the season. The "Oita Wagyu Suki-ni" made with the prefecture's brand beef is paired with Oita barley shochu, and the rich aroma of the barley shochu layered over the deep umami and richness of the wagyu gives the flavor more depth. Learning "why it tastes so good" through combinations of ingredients and drinks is also part of this theme. "A little knowledge makes it even more delicious." It is a dining experience for savoring the flavors of winter more deeply.
