1. Premium Leather Worthy of the ITARO Brand
The upper uses domestically produced Japanese leather that balances strength with flexibility. The material develops a richer patina over time, gradually becoming a unique pair shaped to the wearer's foot. The toe strap is generously padded with urethane sponge, delivering a comfortable, cradling fit.
2. Natural Gait with the Tabi-Type Sole
The tabi-shaped outsole supports the natural movement of the toes. Designed with an awareness of how the foot is meant to be used, it promotes a comfortable walking experience.
3. Vibram Sole
The outsole uses Vibram, offering grip, durability, and cushioning for everything from daily use to travel. The footbed is made with Japanese-manufactured EVA material, providing a comfortable fit that conforms to the shape of the foot.
Behind the Development

Marugo has offered the tabi-type leather sandal "Emma" for some time. After its launch, many customers voiced a desire for men's sizes, and it became clear that sandals with a tabi-like shape were well received as an accessible entry point into tabi-style footwear, both visually and functionally.
Rather than simply extending the size range, the team wanted to propose new value as a tabi maker while honoring tradition. That led to a focus on setta — another piece of Japan's traditional footwear heritage. Under Marugo's "make it new" philosophy, development of the TABI SETTA began with the theme of fusing tabi and setta.
Co-Development
The TABI SETTA was developed in collaboration with No,No,Yes!, a leather brand based in Tokyo. Design, materials, and construction techniques were realized by combining the knowledge and experience of both parties. The product was conceived to communicate Japan's traditional culture to domestic customers and the growing inbound visitor market alike.

Currently available exclusively at Marugo's flagship stores in limited quantities, the company plans to expand its production capacity and explore online sales and wider distribution in the future. The goal is for the TABI SETTA to grow into a beloved product that makes tabi culture and Japan's traditional craftsmanship feel more accessible to many more people.
