Mitoro Kanko Kajuen, located in the northeastern part of Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture, offers fruit-picking experiences throughout the year. Now that August has arrived, the orchard's most popular program — grape picking with Muscat Bailey A grapes — has begun, along with in-store sales. Around ten grape varieties are planned to go on sale over the course of the season, giving visitors a chance to enjoy a wide range of grapes.
What Makes the Grape Harvest at Mitoro Kanko Kajuen Special
Every year, Mitoro Kanko Kajuen's grape-picking season begins during the summer school holidays.
While the harvest can be affected by weather and other conditions, this year's crop is shaping up especially well, and the orchard expects many visitors to enjoy it. Several grape varieties are grown on the property, but the one currently available for picking is Muscat Bailey A. This year's Muscat Bailey A grapes have grown to a large size, producing some of the best fruit seen in recent years. Thanks to the orchard's expansive grounds, about 60,000 bunches of grapes are ripening this year, often surprising first-time visitors during the harvest experience.
Visitors travel from as far as Osaka and Wakayama to pick and purchase grapes, making the orchard a bustling destination every year.
