Morozoff Co., Ltd., a confectionery maker based in Higashinada-ku, Kobe, is launching a new Fukuoka-exclusive product: an Amaou strawberry langue de chat called "Zou no Amaou Ichigo." The first sales will take place at Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin, which reopens on June 17, 2026, with the cookie aiming to become a go-to Fukuoka souvenir.

Sales start date: Wednesday, June 17, 2026

Available at: Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin

Zou no Amaou Ichigo

The langue de chat cookies are made with Amaou strawberry powder from Fukuoka Prefecture, giving them a subtle tartness. White chocolate is sandwiched between each pair, creating a combination that plays off the sweet-and-sour notes of the Fukuoka Amaou strawberry against the smooth, mild sweetness of the white chocolate.

The product is available in three sizes:

10-piece box: ¥1,080 (tax included, base price ¥1,000)

16-piece box: ¥1,620 (tax included, base price ¥1,500)

21-piece box: ¥2,160 (tax included, base price ¥2,000)

The Story Behind "Zou no Amaou Ichigo"

The product takes its name and character from a charming concept: an elephant that visited Fukuoka Zoo in July 2024 and encountered the round, bright red Amaou strawberry for the very first time. The story goes that the elephant — unable to resist the strawberry's appeal — reached out with its trunk to taste it, and immediately fell in love. "Zou no Amaou Ichigo" is inspired by that moment: a treat named after the elephant's encounter with Fukuoka's beloved strawberry.
