Starting January 1, 2026, MUJI HOTEL GINZA launched a new service offering welcome sweets to guests at check-in. These confections are carefully selected by the confectionery buyers at Matsuya Ginza specifically for the hotel.
This project was conceived to help guests staying at MUJI HOTEL GINZA experience the sense of community in Ginza and feel the hotel's warm welcome more deeply.
The Ginza Community Connection
Ginza is divided into commercial districts from 1-chome to 8-chome, where stores within the same chome value their local connections and cooperate closely during festivals and other events, building close relationships. MUJI HOTEL GINZA is no exception to this community spirit.
Matsuya Ginza, the partner for this project, is a historic department store that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025. Located close enough to MUJI HOTEL GINZA that its sign is visible from the hotel's front desk window, Matsuya Ginza has been a recommended destination for international guests seeking shopping options in the same chome.
Expert Selection: Matsuya Ginza Confectionery Buyer's Choice

The confectionery section at Matsuya Ginza offers carefully curated items ranging from long-established traditional Japanese sweets to the latest trending desserts from across the nation. The buyers in this section are known as gift experts. The hotel approached them to share their expertise for this initiative.
Based on the hotel's request for "approachable confections that guests from diverse regions can casually enjoy in their rooms," buyer Ms. Tsuchida selected Kurayoshi's "Ginza Honey Witch," a Matsuya Ginza exclusive product.
About "Ginza Honey Witch"
Kurayoshi, located in Kakunodate, Akita—known as the Michinoku's Little Kyoto—is committed to handmade confections by skilled artisans using only carefully selected ingredients and innovative techniques.
"Ginza Honey Witch" features a tart crust filled with honey cream made with "Ginza Honey" and lemon yokan (a lemon-flavored agar confection).
"Ginza Honey" is produced by the Ginza Honeybee Project, where volunteers working around Ginza keep bees on building rooftops. As a "hyakka-mitsu" (hundred-flower honey) collected from various flowers at the Imperial Palace, Hamarikyu Gardens, Hibiya Park, and trees throughout the neighborhood, it offers a different taste experience each year.
Comment from Matsuya Ginza Buyer Ms. Tsuchida
Since over 90% of MUJI HOTEL GINZA's guests come from overseas, I wanted to propose a confection with a limited-edition feel that would allow them to experience the character of Ginza. That's why I suggested using "Ginza Honey."
Matsuya Ginza also contributes to sustainability aspects by cooperating with rooftop gardening initiatives that support the nectar sources for "Ginza Honey." I hope that through this welcome sweet, guests staying at the hotel will learn about Ginza's community initiatives.
