That Childhood "I Want This" Feeling, Still Alive in Adulthood
HASAMI is Maruhiro's original brand themed around 1960s America, while OSAMU GOODS was hugely popular with teenage girls across Japan in the 1980s and 1990s. The new lunch plate has a lovable three-compartment shape with a toy-like, kitschy feel.

The Jill and Jack plates are each scattered with fashion items that surround the characters, including hats, ribbons, bags, socks, wristwatches and shorts. Once food is served, the motifs peek out from the gaps. The design lets diners enjoy OSAMU GOODS' retro style at the table.

The plates suit breakfast and lunch, and are also recommended for serving Napolitan spaghetti or omelette rice as a "kids' meal for grown-ups." The idea is a slightly special, exciting plate like the ones used in childhood, so that adults can enjoy that feeling too. The lunch plate is designed to be used across generations, from children to adults and from parents to children.
50th Anniversary Plates Limited to 50 Pieces per Color in Japan

OSAMU GOODS was born in 1976 and marked its 50th anniversary in 2026. The limited-edition plates in two colors were created to celebrate the milestone. Nine OSAMU GOODS characters are designed together on a single plate. The plates released so far were white only, but this one comes in two pop colors, red and mustard.

The colors also match the mugs currently on sale, so the tableware can be coordinated as a set. In honor of the 50th anniversary in 2026, both the red and the mustard plates are limited to just 50 pieces each. It is a special plate that exists because of the 50th anniversary milestone.
The Making of OSAMU GOODS × HASAMI
The question was how to express the 1960s American atmosphere of OSAMU GOODS, along with the fun that comes from fashion and everyday goods, as Hasami ware. While considering how well the illustrations suit tableware, the makers paid close attention not only to everyday usability at the table but also to how the colors and motifs look once they are on the plate.

The aim is not just "too cute not to display" but "so cute I want to use it every day," with tableware that brings the world of OSAMU GOODS into daily life. Each item comes in original packaging with an OSAMU GOODS design, and the plates are also recommended as holiday-season gifts.
Comment From Maruhiro's Planner
As a child, I looked forward to the novelty items with illustrations by Osamu Harada that Mister Donut gave out. Buying donuts, the excitement of thinking "I want this," and Osamu Harada's illustrations all remain linked in my memory even now.
I would be happy if people who loved OSAMU GOODS recall a little of that happy feeling from "back then" when they pick up these plates. I also hope that younger generations who did not know those days will enjoy OSAMU GOODS with today's sensibility, thinking "it's somehow cute" or "I want to try using this plate."
I hope these plates let people keep that childhood excitement of "I want this" into adulthood, and enjoy them at the daily table across generations.

About OSAMU GOODS

OSAMU GOODS was created in 1976 by illustrator Osamu Harada, inspired by the English nursery rhymes known as "Mother Goose." The image draws on girls he saw in 1960s American magazines such as Seventeen and on actresses in Hollywood films, along with the props and everyday goods around them. From the late 1970s through the 1990s it was hugely popular, mainly among junior high and high school students and women in their twenties, and it reached its 50th anniversary in 2026.
About Osamu Harada

Osamu Harada was born in Tokyo in 1946. After graduating from the design department of Tama Art University, he began working as an illustrator in 1970 for the magazine an・an, which launched that year. In 1976 he introduced characters based on "Mother Goose," which later developed into OSAMU GOODS.
His works, drawn with simple lines and clear colors, spread to advertising, publishing and character goods, leaving a major mark on Japanese pop culture. He passed away in 2016.
