TOKYO AI Fashion Week 2026 Launches, Combining Generative AI and Fashion

TOKYO AI Fashion Week 2026 has launched from April 3, 2026, bringing together the latest in generative AI technology and fashion. Organized by OpenFashion, a company specializing in AI-driven services for the fashion industry, the event features a generative AI fashion design contest as its centerpiece, along with seminars and hands-on AI experience booths showcasing the current state of generative AI and fashion.

The Theme: Future Utility

This year's event theme is Future Utility, inviting participants to explore fashion that balances functionality and aesthetic sensibility — workwear, uniforms, utility wear, and garments designed for care and disaster preparedness. Japan has a long tradition of functional beauty cultivated through daily life, and the event challenges designers to pair that sensibility with generative AI as a new creative partner, proposing fresh fashion expressions suited to future lifestyles.
