Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel Reopens Lobby as an "Oasis of Water and Light" with New Packing & Dressing Room on July 15

Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel (Koto-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Yasunobu Watanabe) has completed a major renovation of its lobby, opening a new space themed as an "extraordinary oasis enveloped by shimmering water and light" on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. To better serve guests attending nearby exhibitions and events, the hotel has also added a "Packing & Dressing Room" where guests can comfortably organize luggage and change clothes. In addition, following the well-received "Yurikamome 30th Anniversary Collaboration Room" from 2025, a second collaboration room themed as a "Yurikamome Mini Museum" is now available for a limited time, featuring the driver's cab of a retired train car that guests can see, touch, and enjoy.

The hotel opened in June 1999 and, located approximately three minutes' walk from Tokyo Big Sight, one of Japan's largest convention centers, has long been loved by guests from Japan and abroad as the flagship property of WHG Hotels. With this lobby renovation, the hotel offers an extraordinary experience from the moment guests step inside, one filled with quiet stillness and sparkle that makes visitors want to take a deep breath.

"Ariake (Moon at Dawn)" — A New Lobby Space Expressing the Sky, Sea, and Water of the Bay

This lobby renovation is designed around blues that evoke the sky, sea, and water of Ariake, paired with warm off-white tones that gently wrap tired minds and bodies. Making full use of the natural light pouring in through the high atrium and large windows, the design incorporates motifs reminiscent of light reflecting off water and gentle ripples, creating a sense of openness and healing unique to the bay area.

Symbol Zone

This corner symbolizes the concept of the lobby renovation, evoking the Ariake moon and glimmering water. Soft light and openness fill the atrium space, gently soothing mind and body. The boat-shaped sofa at the center also serves as a photogenic spot where guests can actually sit down for photos.

Thoughtful Care Zone

An information desk has been set up where guests can check shuttle bus information to the airport and nearby theme parks. In addition, a "Packing & Dressing Room," available exclusively to hotel guests, has been newly added, letting guests sort luggage and change clothes stress-free before check-in and after check-out. Around Ariake, guests attending events and exhibitions at Tokyo Big Sight, as well as visitors from overseas, have often struggled with organizing luggage or changing clothes. This new space allows guests to get ready for events or prepare for a lighter journey home, making the time before and after a stay both comfortable and efficient. The hotel aims to support guests in making the most of their time in the diverse range of stay scenarios unique to the Ariake area.

Mind & Body "Liberation" Zone

This space is designed for comfort for all guests, whether traveling for business or with family. Although part of the open lobby, the counter seating surrounded by greenery offers a calm setting, designed with enough clearance underneath to store a suitcase. Power outlets are also available, creating an environment suited for laptop work or preparing for a trip. Fabric art swaying on the ceiling, lit to project a rippling water pattern, creates a comfortable, extraordinary sensation as if drifting in water.

From Lobby to Guest Room — One Connected Story

This renovation aims to connect the lobby's "brilliance of water and light" with the guest rooms' "stillness woven by moon and water," creating a space where guests can experience a single, unified world across the entire hotel. The hotel hopes to be a place that soothes mind and body and recharges guests for tomorrow, welcoming everyone who visits for exhibitions, events, leisure, sightseeing, or family trips. Experience this new kind of stay, made possible precisely because it's in Ariake, part of the Tokyo Bay waterfront subcenter.

THE FUJITA MEMBERS Exclusive Renewal Commemorative Plan

To commemorate this large-scale renovation of the lobby and guest rooms, the hotel is offering a special-priced stay plan exclusively for members of Fujita Kanko Group's membership program, "THE FUJITA MEMBERS."

The guest room renovation, being carried out alongside the lobby renovation, is scheduled to be completed for 576 rooms by the end of July this year, with the remaining 18 rooms completed by early September. Guided by a concept of "refined comfort" and incorporating the "Ariake (Moon at Dawn)" motif, the rooms are smart and simple while combining functionality and comfort.

Superior Triple Room

As a gift, guests will receive an original tote bag upcycled from the curtains used in the guest rooms before renovation. Featuring the sturdy texture unique to curtain fabric and a simple, easy-to-use design, this bag makes use of materials that would otherwise become unnecessary during the renovation process, reducing environmental impact while carrying the hotel's memories and resources into the future. The hotel will continue to promote sustainable initiatives going forward, aiming for hotel operations considerate of the local community and the environment.

Yurikamome Collaboration, Part Two — "Yurikamome Mini Museum" Room Featuring a Retired Driver's Cab

In response to requests from guests wanting "a room with a view of the Yurikamome," the hotel ran a Yurikamome collaboration in 2025, and the collaboration room proved so popular that its sales period was extended. This time, as a second installment, a concept room themed as a "Yurikamome Mini Museum" has been introduced.

The guest room features a driver's cab that was actually used in retired 7000- and 7200-series train cars. Since Yurikamome operates as a fully automated, driverless system, guests can enjoy the special experience of sitting in a driver's seat rarely seen up close, touching the control levers and instruments. The in-room television also plays footage from the Yurikamome's front window. Watching the scenery change while operating the control lever gives guests the realistic sensation of being a train operator. The room also displays memorabilia such as past one-day passes and plastic models, finished as a "stay-in mini museum" that both adults and children can enjoy. Adult- and child-sized uniforms are also available, so guests can take commemorative photos in the driver's seat.

Furthermore, guests who stay in this collaboration room and apply will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an invitation, for two groups of up to 10 people total, to a special "Yurikamome Depot Inspection Building Tour" planned for Monday, November 23, 2026 (a national holiday). This is a rare opportunity to visit inspection facilities not normally open to the public, offering a special experience even after checking out.

About New Transit Yurikamome

New Transit Yurikamome opened on November 1, 1995, as a transit system with a fully automated operation system, and marked its 30th anniversary last year. The line runs about 15 km between Shimbashi and Toyosu and is well known for views of the Tokyo Bay waterfront, including the Rainbow Bridge. Widely used both for daily commuting and as a sightseeing route connecting the waterfront subcenter areas of Odaiba and Ariake, the line has contributed to the urban development of the greater Tokyo area and the growing appeal of the waterfront since it opened.
