Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel (Koto-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Yasunobu Watanabe) has been carrying out renovations on 594 of its 830 guest rooms since June 2025, guided by a concept of "refined comfort." Of those, 567 rooms are scheduled for completion by the end of June 2026, with the remaining 27 rooms to follow by early September 2026. Alongside the room works, a lobby renovation is also in progress, including the addition of a new "Packing & Dressing Room," with a grand reopening planned for July 15, 2026 (Wednesday).
The hotel opened in June 1999 and has long served as the flagship property of WHG Hotels, located approximately three minutes' walk from Japan's largest convention center, Tokyo Big Sight. The renovated rooms and lobby take "Ariake (月 — Moon at Dawn)" as their shared design theme, aiming to provide a refined, polished experience for guests attending conventions, exhibitions, and events at Tokyo Big Sight, as well as those simply seeking a comfortable stay in the bay area.
Smart, Simple Space Design Inspired by "Ariake — Moon at Dawn"
The renovated rooms draw on the meaning behind the hotel's own name — 有明 (Ariake), the pale light of the moon remaining in the dawn sky — to create a quietly soothing atmosphere. Soft indirect lighting mimics the gentle glow of moonlight, giving the space a sense that time is passing slowly. Interior decoration is kept deliberately understated: a wall panel featuring a moon motif and a palette of calm, unified tones bring together stillness and warmth, helping guests unwind from the demands of travel or business.

Stress-Free Functionality Based on Guest Feedback
Guest feedback informed several practical improvements to the rooms. Around the headboard, outlets have been repositioned and USB ports added alongside standard power sockets, making it easy to charge and use smartphones or tablets from the bed. A dedicated tray for resting a smartphone is also built in, so guests can set and retrieve devices smoothly before and after sleep.

Televisions have been moved to wall-mount positions, freeing up visual space and making the room feel more open. The result is a guest room that combines thoughtful design with practical comfort.

Lobby Renovation — Grand Reopening July 15, 2026
An "Extraordinary Oasis of Water and Light" Connecting Lobby to Guest Room
The lobby redesign takes "an extraordinary oasis enveloped by shimmering water and light" as its concept. Drawing inspiration from the quiet lingering mood of the Ariake moon and the moment when light falls and the sea surface glitters, the space layers soft hues that gently wrap mind and body.
The lobby and guest rooms are conceived as a single, continuous stay experience. In the lobby, guests can feel the openness characteristic of the waterfront area along with the vibrancy created by water and light. Two distinct zones — a "Mind & Body Liberation Zone" and a "Symbolic Zone" — serve a wide range of visitors and purposes.

New: Packing & Dressing Room
A "Packing & Dressing Room" is being added to the lobby floor. This space is designed to address practical needs such as repacking luggage before or after check-in and check-out, with facilities for quick preparation and a well-considered layout that makes the transition in and out of the hotel more comfortable.
