The YOKAI Immersive Experience Exhibition TOKYO - Imagination of Japan, organized by the 動き出す妖怪展TOKYO実行委員会 (TV Tokyo, BS TV Tokyo, Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Jiji Press, Hitohata, TV Aichi), has surpassed 100,000 visitors since opening at Terada Warehouse in Tennozu Isle, Tokyo. A commemorative ceremony was held to mark the milestone.
The family who became the 100,000th visitors
The 100,000th visitor was a family group from Tokyo. As a commemorative gift, they received an original muffler towel, an original T-shirt, and 浮世絵 3D art stickers from the exhibition. They visited because their son is a fan of yokai, and shared impressions including "there was a fun room to play in," "there were lots of my favorite yokai," "the 妖怪藤回廊 room had a nice fragrance," and "the yokai figures were so realistic, I was surprised."
The exhibition is open through this coming Sunday, June 28. Note that on the final day, June 28, the venue will close at 5:00 PM (last entry 4:30 PM).
About the YOKAI Immersive Experience Exhibition
The YOKAI Immersive Experience Exhibition is the world's first immersive experience-type digital art museum, bringing to life Japan's yokai art tradition — centered on 百鬼夜行絵巻, 百物語, oni, 天狗, 河童, and 付喪神 depicted by Edo and Meiji-era artists — through cutting-edge video technology and three-dimensional modeling.
The exhibition is presented in cooperation with the 西尾市岩瀬文庫 (Japan's first antiquarian book museum) and the 妖怪美術館 on Shodoshima. In addition to explanations of yokai culture, yokai paintings, 戯画, and yokai art, it features vivid three-dimensional yokai presentations that captivate both adults and children in a new-concept art entertainment exhibition where visitors "enjoy, learn, and experience" the world of YOKAI.
