The Biwako Otsu Prince Hotel in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, is offering a summer-limited afternoon tea from July 1 to August 31, 2026. The "Peach Afternoon Tea –A Moment of Summer Fragrance–" is available at the Lobby Lounge Port Nio on the first floor, which overlooks Lake Biwa.

The menu puts seasonal peaches in the spotlight, pairing their gentle sweetness and rich aroma with local Shiga ingredients including milk, honey, and Japanese black tea. Both the sweet and savory courses draw on the region's produce.
The afternoon tea was crafted by Patissier Karen Fujino, who won the Confectionery Division at the 35th Prince Hotel Cooking Contest. With a delicate sensibility and refined technique, she expresses the beauty and juiciness of peach in each individual item. The standout piece is "Maru de Peach" ("Just Like a Peach"), an adorable peach-shaped dessert that has become the signature of this menu. English scones and peach-and-cranberry scones are served alongside honey from Azuchi Apiary — a local producer championed by the lounge — together with clotted cream and white peach and guava jam for added depth of flavor.


Guests can enjoy the seasonal menu alongside a peaceful view of the lake from the lounge.

Fujino joined Seibu Prince Hotels Worldwide Co., Ltd. in 2021 and has been working in the Food & Beverage Department (Pastry & Bakery Section) at Biwako Otsu Prince Hotel. In addition to daily dessert production for the restaurant and banquet operations, she is involved in planning and developing new products including afternoon teas, actively incorporating local ingredients to showcase the appeal of the Shiga region. She won the Confectionery Division at the 35th Prince Hotel Cooking Contest.
