Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo Launches Halloween Afternoon Tea with Shine Muscat Ghost Daifuku and Mummy Mont Blanc on October 1

Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Tomohiko Chihiro) is bringing a Halloween-themed spread to its garden-view lobby lounge "Le Jardin": the "Halloween Afternoon Tea," pairing playful Halloween sweets with autumn's seasonal flavors. It launches on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

A Playful Halloween Afternoon Tea with Autumn Flavors

The Halloween Afternoon Tea brings together sweets shaped like ghosts, mummies, and bats with autumn ingredients such as chestnut, pumpkin, purple sweet potato, and saury.

The experience opens with a rich pumpkin soup that draws out the vegetable's gentle sweetness and depth, topped with a bat-shaped crouton made with fragrant black sesame for a Halloween touch from the very first bite.

On the top tier, the "Shine Muscat and Lemon Ghost Daifuku" wraps a whole Shine Muscat grape in delicately sweet white bean paste and soft gyuhi, paired with a lemon-flavored sablé. The eye-catching "Mummy Mont Blanc" layers cassis cream inside cocoa almond cream, topped with rich chestnut cream and chocolate — the cassis's gentle tartness bringing out the sweetness of the chestnut and chocolate.

Rounding out the top tier are four Halloween-inspired sweets in total, including a "Pumpkin Cookie" — crisp pumpkin cookies sandwiching black cacao chocolate cream with caramel sauce and hazelnut — and a "Purple Sweet Potato Pudding" layered with tangy raspberry sauce over rich purple sweet potato.

The middle tier features the hotel's long-beloved classic "Plain Scone," served since the afternoon tea first began, alongside the perennially popular "Chestnut Scone." Both come with the usual clotted cream as well as a chestnut and walnut clotted cream and a cassis and orange jam.

On the savory bottom tier, the "Root Vegetable Mosaic Frittata" arranges beets, purple sweet potato, and yellow carrot in a mosaic pattern, baked to a golden finish with whole egg and cream that bring out the savoriness of ham and Parmesan cheese, and garnished with a physalis fruit standing in for the moon.

The "Saffron Risotto Croquette" concentrates the savory flavor of seafood, while the "Chicken Confit, Nut, and Apple Corte" layers roasted nuts and the gentle sweetness of apple over tender chicken confit, combined with the richness of cream cheese and green olive and the refreshing aroma of lemon and yuzu, all atop a light and crisp croffle.

Also featured is the "Saury Rillette and Grapes," which blends the savory flavor of saury with béchamel into a smooth rillette, served with grilled eggplant and grapes. Dill, Dijon mustard, and ginger combine with a touch of balsamic acidity for a dish that lavishly showcases autumn's flavors.

Guests can enjoy a tea time that pairs Halloween's charming world with a diverse range of autumn flavors.
