Hotel Granvia Hiroshima Hosts Special Sake Pairing Dinner with Suishin Brewery

Hotel Granvia Hiroshima (located in Minami-ku, Hiroshima City, General Manager: Masayoshi Shimada) announces a special dining event on February 27, 2026 (Friday) at the 2nd floor Japanese restaurant "Setouchi." The event features a special kaiseki course prepared by Head Chef Masahiko Tomioka, paired with premium sake from Suishin Yamane Honten.

Founded in 1860, Suishin Yamane Honten is one of Hiroshima's most prestigious breweries, located in Mihara City. The brewery is known for its association with Yokoyama Taikan, a master of Japanese painting who was a devoted fan of their sake. The brewery's sake is characterized by a dry taste with subtle sweetness and deep umami, offering a smooth and refined mouthfeel.

For this event, Head Chef Tomioka has created a special kaiseki menu, including two collaboration dishes: "Hiroshima Natural Yellowtail with Suishin Sake Kasu Soup" and "Suishin Sake Kasu Blancmange," both featuring the brewery's sake. Chief Sommelier Maeoka has selected six sake varieties from Suishin's diverse lineup, ranging from approachable standard sake to a Junmai Daiginjo released in November last year. Each sake is carefully chosen to harmonize with the cuisine, enhancing the pairing experience between food and drink.

The event offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from Mr. Yuichi Yamane, President of Suishin, who will share insights about the brewery's sake-making philosophy and its 160-year history while guests enjoy their meal.

Through events like this, Japanese restaurant "Setouchi" aims to deepen appreciation for Japanese cuisine, showcase locally produced sake from Hiroshima, and introduce the pleasures of pairing Japanese food with sake. Guests are invited to savor this exclusive evening of refined culinary art and distinguished sake.

Founded in 1860 (Man'en 1). When unifying their brands, the name "Suishin" (yoigokoro) came from the words of an old man in a dream, later becoming widely known as "suishin." The brewery has developed through technological innovations, including the isolation of "Association Yeast No. 3." During the Taisho era, they won "Excellence Award" three consecutive times at the National Sake Evaluation Competition, earning the "Honor Award" and gaining nationwide recognition. Known as a sake loved by Yokoyama Taikan, the brewery has become a regular gold medal winner at the Annual Japan Sake Awards.
